EMBA Student Life

What’s it like being a student at my age?

It’s probably been a long time since you were a student. But executive student life at UNC is nothing like your undergraduate years. Students in all three Programs share these experiences:

  • Rigorous curriculum: You’ll work hard, but you’ll also build close bonds with your classmates. If you’ve been out of the classroom for a while, we offer review workshops before the Program begins that will help you get up to speed.
  • Teaching methods: Many professors use business cases, requiring you to draw on your work experience and classroom learning to solve real-world problems. Discussions are lively and interactive–keeping you on your toes. You’ll learn as much from classmates as from the professor.
  • Study teams: You’ll be assigned to a study team when you enter the Program. Your team will have 5-7 members with diverse backgrounds so you will benefit from each other’s strengths. We replicate work teams in the real world, so you’ll learn skills to successfully complete projects together.
